It’s been another wonderfully busy and engaging week in Deer Class, and the children have thrown themselves into their learning with great enthusiasm.

In English, we have been investigating the features of newspaper reports and planning our very own articles all about the Great Fire of London. The children enjoyed stepping into the role of reporters, gathering “facts” and crafting headlines to tell the story of this historic event.

In Maths, we have been consolidating our knowledge of counting in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s. We used lots of practical resources and movement-based activities to help strengthen fluency and confidence.

In R.E, we explored the Ten Commandments and discussed why some of these ideas might still be important for us today. The children shared thoughtful reflections about kindness, fairness and making good choices.

In Art, we learnt about Henri Matisse and his famous collage work The Snail. The class had a wonderful time experimenting with bold colours and shapes to recreate their own versions using Matisse’s cut‑paper technique.

It’s been a lively, creative and productive week in Deer Class, and we’re so proud of everything the children have achieved.
